The Bulls are coming off an incredible game (even though it was a loss) against the Heat, where they only used 7 players in a double-OT game. Luckily, the Bulls have had a day to rest, as Derrick Rose, Ben Gordon, and John Salmons all played 49+ minutes.
1
11:02 – Joakim Noah picks up his 2nd foul. Great. Hopefully Brad Miller can handle Dwight Howard.
10:19 – Howard scores the first points of the game against Miller. 2-0.
9:05 – Orlando forces a 24-second violation on the Bulls, who still haven’t scored. 6-0.
8:14 – Brad Miller lays it in for the Bulls’ first basket. Tyrus Thomas steal helped set that one up.
8:03 – Tyrus steals it again, and takes it all the way for the dunk. 6-4.
6:42 – Howard picks up his second foul in the last 15 seconds or so. Good for the Bulls, as he’ll have to come out now. The drop off from Howard to Marcin Gortat is pretty large.
6:04 – An unusual but correct foul call – Michael Pietrus kicks his leg out taking a 3-pointer and is called for the offensive foul.
5:50 – Rose posts up Rafer Alston and puts it in over him. 13-8 Magic.
3:47 – Rose kicks it out to Salmons for a 3. 15-11.
After 1: Magic lead 26-13. Apparently Gortat is tough enough for the Bulls to have a hard time handling him. Bulls shot 4/18 that quarter.
2
10:22 – Good offensive rebound and put-back for Noah. 28-21.
9:55 – Rose gets his own miss and puts it back in. Bulls picking themselves up a bit to start the 2nd quarter. 28-23.
9:16 – Nice move by Salmons, spins into the lane and shoots it in. 12-2 run for the Bulls. 28-25.
8:11 – Nice backdoor cut by BG, Noah finds him, but Gordon misses the reverse layup.
7:16 – Hinrich with a baseline jumper to end a 7-0 Magic run. 35-27.
6:12 – Bulls call a TO. They had gotten to within 3, but are back down 12 again. 39-27.
5:31 – Howard grabs Tyrus and gets called for an offensive foul. He’ll sit down again, so I guess it’s good, although the Bulls haven’t done much better against Gortat.
5:06 – Another 24-second violation by the Bulls.
3:53 – Hinrich with another jumper. 41-32.
1:47 – Rose posts up again, for what the announcers say is at least the 6th time. He doesn’t score, but it’s interesting to see him trying it out.
1:17 – Salmons hits a fallaway in the lane. 44-36. Salmons has 11.
1.1 – Tony Battie gets the put-back dunk just before the buzzer.
Halftime – Magic lead 48-36. The Bulls looked like they were coming back a couple times, but the Magic pulled away again each time. Bulls are not playing well at all. BG is 0/6 from the field so far. Apparently so is Rashard Lewis. Bench players J.J. Redick, Tony Battie, and Marcin Gortat are doing most of the damage for Orlando.
3
11:45 – BG hits his first FG. It would be nice to see him heat up a bit.
10:28 – Noah sits down with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 fouls.
9:53 – Tyrus hits a spinner in the lane.54-40.
8:58 – Miller takes it in, scores, and gets fouled. Completes the 3-pt play. 58-43.
I'm going to stop here. That was about as close as the Bulls got for the rest of the game. Things just continued to get uglier. Orlando hit 3 straight 3s to end the 3rd quarter, including one at the buzzer, to extend their lead to 32 going into the 4th. They outscored the Bulls by 22 in the 3rd.
In the 4th, we saw Aaron Gray (who has gotten hardly any playing time since Brad Miller arrived), Lindsey Hunter, newly signed Linton Johnson, and Anthony Roberson. THAT'S how bad things were tonight.
Final: 107-79.
Box score notes: Bulls shot 31% tonight. Gordon 1/10, Rose 2/12. Salmons led the way with 18 points.
Orlando: Rashard Lewis shot 0/9, Howard only had 15 and 9R, ending his streak of double-doubles. The Orlando bench had a pretty big game, Gortat ended with 13 and 15R. That's how pathetic the Bulls were tonight.
